Imagine going on a trip to an amazing place… Outside it’s wet and cold (read: horrible), but these places make my body all warm inside. There are many places that I would still want to visit. Some trips are already planned, others are still a dream right now. But they all make me excited for great weather and beautiful views and that really gets me through these dark winter days.

My top 14:

1. Algarve, Portugal.

This trip is planned! At the beginning of May, I’m going with my sisters to a beautiful 4-star resort in the Algarve. The Algarve is located in the south of Portugal and has beautiful beaches and cliffs (if I have to believe the travel guides). I’m really excited to see how it is in real life. (And of course I will write about it)

2. Sydney, Australia.

My dream is to travel around Australia some day and Sydney is absolutely on the list. The weather, the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge; it all seems so great.

3. New York City, USA

I’ve already been in NYC, but that was such a short trip that I don’t think I really saw anything. I was there for 2 full day and I mean, I saw the highlights: top of the Rockefeller Center, The Statue of Liberty and I went inside Central Park for about 10 minutes. But I would love to go with some girlfriends or my sisters and stay for about a week.

4. Los Angeles, USA

The city of dreams is a place high on the list too. I don’t think any other city in the world can make you feel like a movie star like LA. You can walk the streets the stars walk on, you can maybe even catch a glimpse of some actor and all that with nice weather. When can I go?!

5. San Francisco, USA

It would be great to start in LA, follow highway 1 all the way to San Francisco and then chill under the Golden Gate Bridge. I would also look for the real Full House house, go to Lombard Street and take a cable car.

6. Florence, Italy

My birthday this year will be celebrated in the beautiful city of Florence, together with my boyfriend. I’ve never been to Italy, but I’m excited for the gelato, pasta and pizza. But of course I’m not going there just to eat. Pictures of Florence make me excited to wander the cobble stone streets, see the pretty view of the city with all the orange roofs and then of course eat a lot after a long day.

7. Madagascar, Africa

Ever since I was little, this island next to Africa fascinates me and I would very much like to explore it someday.

8. Scandinavia

It may be a big area, but I’m not really picky whether I would go to Norway, Sweden or Finland. I would love to see fjords, the northern lights and hopefully some animals you can’t see in the Netherlands. Downside? I think the best time to go to Scandinavia is in wintertime and that means it’s cold.

9. London, UK

It’s only a 40-minute flight from Amsterdam to London, but I’ve never been. I want a (cliché) picture in a red phone booth and in front of the Big Ben.

10. Tulum, Mexico

I’ve seen many pictures of Tulum and I must say, it is amazing. White sandy beaches and incredible blue water makes it look like paradise.

11. Plitvice Lakes, Croatia

Croatia was never a place I would think about visiting, but after seeing pictures of these lakes I wanted to take the first plane there. I mean, look at this:

Plitvice

12. Bali, Indonesia

A very popular destination for backpackers, because it is quite cheap in some places. The popular places for tourist though require some more money. But there’s a reason why so many people visit and want to visit, and that’s because it’s spectacular.

13. New Zealand

Basically it’s on the other side of the world. Maybe that’s what I like about it, ha! But besides that, I think New Zealand has nature that you can’t find anywhere in the world.

14. Bora Bora

Who doesn’t know Bora Bora? The islands somewhere in the Pacific Ocean look like heaven on earth. It’s most known as a honeymoon getaway, but there no reason why you shouldn’t go there before that.

Have you visited any of these places? What other places would you want to visit?
