Monthly wrap-up: October 2019
Happy November! October has come and gone by very quickly for me. And now it’s already November and I’m in full Christmas mode.
In October, I started listening to Christmas music occasionally and whenever I watched a movie by myself, I made sure it was a Christmas one. My boyfriend and I are already talking about where to put the tree and I just can’t wait to get it.
But it’s still two months away…
Back to October
This month, I took some time off from work. It was busy and I hadn’t taken any time off this whole year, so it was needed. The last two weeks of October were bliss.
I went to the spa with my mom and sisters, did some work around the house, because we still have some things to do after we moved in in July. And I just relaxed to the max.
That also means that I haven’t read as much as I thought I would. I’m now reading Quiet by Susan Cain and it’s not the kind of book you can really relax with. So I’ve been binging all kinds of Christmas movies and binging the Good Place.
October in books
I didn’t read much in October and that showed on my Goodreads reading challenge. I was a lot of books ahead of schedule, and now I’m only two books ahead of schedule. In total I have now read 39 of the 45 books I want to read this year.
Books I read
I ended September in the middle of Love May Fail by Matthew Quick. So of course I finished this in October, and it was a bit of a struggle. You can read why in my review.
After that, I dived into Braving The Wilderness by Brené Brown. I had high hopes and they weren’t met. You can read my full review here.
And as I said, I’m now in the middle of Quiet by Susan Cain. I also started All The Bright Places, but only read the first ten pages.
Books I hauled
I had two different library hauls this month. The first one was Braving The Wilderness. I was planning on reading books that I already had in possession first, but after watching the mini-series of Bill Gates on Netflix, I wanted to read an inspiring book, not just fiction.
And later, when I started Quiet and was going to the spa with my mom and sisters, I wanted a book that was a little lighter. So I picked All The Bright Places (and realized at home that maybe that isn’t such a light read after all haha).
Books I added to my TBR-list
Only one this month? I guess I haven’t been blog-hopping as much as I normally do, so I don’t read all the recommendations.
October in the blogosphere
I’ve relaxed so much this month, with me being off from work for two weeks, that I didn’t read a lot of blogs. So no recommendations of that this month.
What has been going on on my blog? Here you go:
Looking into November
The books that I’m reading this month are all books that I have talked about before in other wrap-ups. I’ll finish Quiet and All The Bright Places, and will read Hoe Gaan We Dit Uitleggen, that I borrowed from my brother.
If there is more time, I’ll see whatever the library has to offer!
