Friday Five: Most memorable reads of 2018
The first month of 2019 is almost over and I’m probably late to the party, but I thought it would be nice to look back at my most memorable reads of 2018.
Looking back at the 42 books I’ve read, there are some that I don’t really remember… Is that because I read too much? I hope not, because my new reading challenge is 45 books. It probably does show that the story wasn’t great enough for me to really remember it.
But, there are also some books that weren’t great that I DO remember. Why? Because the story was either really bad or just shocking.
My most memorable reads of 2018
1. When Dimple Met Rishi
This book was so incredibly cute! I am a big sucker for YA contemporary novels, but didn’t read one in a while. Not only did this book quench my thirst for YA, it was so cute, fun and light and I can’t gush about it enough!
2. The Bookseller
This book kept me guessing until the very end and I liked it! Besides that, the story was very touching, the characters relatable and it stayed with me for a long time. Very memorable!
3. Everything, Everything
Ugh, another romance/YA/contemporary that I absolutely adored. This heartbreaking but also very cute and fun story is something you can’t miss. I recently watched the movie and it was just as great as the book.
4. The One and Only
Okay, this book… it was alright, but there are unsettling things happening and a major shocker towards the end. I just couldn’t really handle it. The book was well written, the characters were okay but just the plot wasn’t for me. I still think about it sometime, but not in a good way.
5. A Thousand Boy Kisses
Ending the list on a high note, A Thousand Boy Kisses is the only book in 2018 that I gave 5 stars on Goodreads. It was heartbreaking – I literally cried – and so touching. You can read my full review here, or just read the book yourself and weep.
Looking back, I’ve read some pretty amazing books! Let’s hope 2019 has books like this in store for me too.
What is your most memorable book of 2018?
