Here’s another book review! This time I read and reviewed After You by Jojo Moyes. It’s the sequel to the well-known novel Me Before You and I cried rivers when I read that book. It’s no surprise then that I had to read it. This is what I thought about it in 14 sentences:

I’m very sorry to say that I wish I never read this book. Me Before You was such an amazing, emotional read and I was expecting the same for this sequel. It was very disappointing.

For starters, can the Lily character just disappear? I really didn’t like her much. She was very annoying and honestly it was unbelievable that she was a teenager. And Louisa needed some more life in her, because the first half of the book was very dead. I do understand that that was how she coped with Will’s death, but she was too much in a depressing state to make the book a good read. I got kind of depressed with her, and not in a good way.

There is however a little humor in this book that made it bearable. Awkwardness and misjudging characters always work for me. I also liked the recurrence of all the other characters, though some life choice were kind of weird (I mean, Will’s dad getting another baby?!).

Apart from the story, I really like the way Jojo Moyes writes. That, and the fact that once I start a book I have to finish it, kept me reading.

What did you think about this book?
